Paravent PATd

     A device PARAVENT PATd  is the electronically controlled high-frequency jet ventilator  with continually adjustable frequency from 10 to 180 bpm, the eligible period of inspiration within the range of 30 to 70 % of the full time cycle, with continually adjustable insuflation pressure 0 – 250 kPa and the pressure for active expiration in the range of 0 – 250 kPa. The ventilator also offers the „low-frequency“, conventional ventilation with the possibility of synchronisation. It is possible to  regulate the sensitivity of flow assistor in the range of 1 to 10 l/min. Insuflation pressure is converted in one of the nozzles of multi-nozzle jet injector (MNJI) to the actual ventilation pressure. The ventilation pressure is adjustable based on the used inspiration nozzle (one of three inspiration nozzles) to three independent levels depending on the used size of MNJI. Ventilation pressure, volume minute, resp. tidal volume is monitored on the coloured display that is devided into the part used for selectable parameters of ventilation, used for the part of measured parameters – alpha-numerical interpretation of ventilation parameters and the part used for graphical interpretation of pressure and flow curves. As an option, user can display p-Vt and Q-Vt curses as well as flow charts Paw, Vt, f and MV.


The system, with its simple construction, allows the use of supported ventilation while patient can still breath spontaniously.

The system also allows to conduct the effective airways cleaning, including lung lavage, in inpulsion or expulsion modes, without the interrruption of patient’s breathing activity.

The system is equipped with the function that authomatically decreases level of undesirable dynamic end-expiration overpressure (i.e. AUTOPEEP) with the pre-set of time periods of inspiration / expiration 2:1 and frequency 120 and 180 bpm. In this case, the expiration insufltion valve is activated  during the expiration.

Even with a use of unsealed (uncuffed) endotracheal tube, the system is capable to prevent aspiration by the application of constant pressure gradient .

The basic accessories of ventilator is a set of eight MNJI with the inner diameters Ø 3; 4; 5; 6; 7; 8; 9; 10 mm for the endotracheal tubes that correspond to the same diameter with the tollerance ± 0,5 mm. The set of MNJI covers the full age and weight spectrum of patients. Each MNJI is equipped with three inspiratory, expiratory nozzles and measurement connector, all corresponding to the size of used MNJI.

Tidal volume is the result of the chosen ventilation energy of MNJI (insuflation pressure, diameter of MNJI and used nozzle) and exact status of airways and lungs compliance.

 The described set chosen based on age and weight of patient, correcponding endotracheal tube and MNJI allows to cover the ventilation needs of full age spectrum of patients, including newborns, with the minimal requirements on user of the device 

The MNJI is designed on the principle of physical safety catch when the used inspiration pressure and actual noze correspond to maximal ventilation pressure of MNJI what represents the maximal attainable level of overpressure in lungs, even in the case of zero flow into lungs (ex. In case of permanent inspirium caused by eventual failure of ventilator).   

            Together with this design cath the ventilator includes a pneumatic system for continously scanning and evaluation of pressure in tracheal tube what allows a design of another safety cath – overpressure catch. This one automatically breaks the ventilation respectively delivery of gaz into inspiration tract when the pressure exceeds 5kPa and activate an acoustic and visual alarm (red LED in field ALARM – position 13 on front panel). The decrease of pressure in endotracheal tube under defined limit automatically activate another inspirium. The acoustic and visual alarm is activated from the moment of exceeding the pressure limit 5 kPa till the next inspirium. The measurement nozzle is continually flushed with a low flow. If the measurement nozzle is plugged up it integrates the pressure which after exceeding 5 kPa stopps the ventilation and activates the alarm.

For ventilation in the field or during transportation, a source of compressed oxygen (pressure cylinder with the capacity 2, 5, or 10 L) equipped with a cylinder pressure regulator with a quick coupler which is set up to outlet overpressure 400 kPa ± 100 kPa is required.
